True Interference Immunity
One the greatest challenges LiDAR faces is being able to work together with other LiDAR units, without interfering with each other. Baraja’s Spectrum-Scan™ technology is used both to transmit and receive light so, in order for any LiDAR to interfere with Baraja’s LiDAR, a simultaneous match of the correct time, angle of incidence, wavelengths and symbols would be necessary. This multi-layer of protection makes it possible for 2 or more of our LiDARs to play nice with others even when facing directly at each other at very short distances.
Interference Immunity Test
Most LiDAR work well – until they encounter another LiDAR. Or a mirror. Or a hacker. Baraja LiDAR is the first with True Interference Immunity, meaning there are never blind spots in their perception. Never drive blind again.
Baraja’s new updated system allows pedestrian detection at +200 meters in urban environments. Our dynamic region-of-interest adjustment allows us to aim and preferentially increase the resolutions in key areas of the horizon, tracking the targets to get better resolution as the objects get further away from the sensor. This provides maximum density of points on distant targets for improved detection and classification and range.
Minimum detectable range
Detecting a highly reflective object close to the sensor is no trouble for Baraja LiDAR. Our sensors can detect an object as close as 0 cm away. This is a key safety feature that allows detecting objects in close proximity to the car (the skin of the vehicle), and all the way to obstructions and obscurants on its own window (dirt, insects). Baraja’s Spectrum-Scan™ LiDAR combines ultra-long and ultra-short range in a single system.
Configurable Sensor Suite
Your LiDAR needs are different, so don’t compromise. Baraja’s LiDAR is modular, meaning you can mix-and-match sensors to suit your needs.
Key to Spectrum-Scan™ LiDAR technology, the Sensorheads are Baraja-speak for the scanning optics: they relay the light from the Engine out into the world and back again. Acting like a prism, the Sensorheads harness high-school physics to direct light of different wavelengths in different directions (see our Spectrum-Scan™ explainer here).
Reliability. By Design.
Vehicles serve up the toughest environments. Why make it tougher by operating sensitive electronics and photonics at the edge of the vehicle? Baraja’s Sensorheads are mounted externally, away from the main LiDAR engine, which is protected inside the vehicle. The Sensorheads are simple, made of prism-like glass, while the Engine contains all the complex electronics and photonics. This discrete, modular architecture maximizes robustness to temperature, shock and vibration and we have reliability test results to prove it.
The Baraja LiDAR Engine is the central brain-box of the system. It contains all the smarts: both electronics and photonics.
One Engine supports up to four Sensorheads for full 360° coverage, and the optic fiber interconnects can be tens of meters long, allowing Baraja LiDAR to scale from compact cars, to trucks and even road infrastructure.
The Engine is designed to be housed at the center of the vehicle, maximizing robustness and avoiding the replication of cost and complexity at each corner of the vehicle.
